Ebony’s Journey – A Bright New Chapter

We’re overjoyed to share a beautiful update from one of the most courageous young women we’ve ever known.

Ebony, whose story of resilience, transformation, and hope has touched so many hearts, is not just surviving—she’s thriving.

And the most beautiful part? Ebony has asked us to share her story on her behalf—because she wants others to know that change is possible, and that no matter how dark things may seem, there’s always a way forward.

Ebony was one of the very first young people to join Connect Kids six years ago. Back then, she was just 14—facing unimaginable hardship: homelessness, addiction and a deep sense of isolation from a world that never gave her a fair chance. But even in the toughest moments, Ebony never lost the spark that told us she was capable of something more.

Her journey since then has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Now turning 20, Ebony is preparing to celebrate a huge milestone—not just her age, but everything she’s overcome to get here. She’s planning her first birthday party in years, a celebration not only of a new decade, but of healing, growth, and how far she’s come. For the first time in a long time, she’s excited to be celebrated.

Ebony is also embracing motherhood with the same strength and determination that carried her through the darkest chapters of her life. Her baby boy is 8 months old—bright-eyed, full of giggles, and already the center of her world. From the moment she found out she was pregnant, Ebony made the brave decision to change everything. And she did.

Today, Ebony lives independently in a safe, stable home she’s made her own. She’s built a life grounded in love, care, and courage—giving her son everything she never had herself. Their days are filled with beautiful, everyday adventures: zoo trips where her baby lights up at the animals, splashing joyfully at the local pool, and quiet moments at home filled with books, songs, and snuggles.

She’s not only an incredible mum—she’s a role model. Ebony is learning, growing, and thriving. She’s mastering new skills, managing her home, and continuing to work closely with her Connect Kids support team. Her growth has been awe-inspiring.

Ebony is a huge part of our why.

She’s a living example of what’s possible when we refuse to give up on young people—when we believe in them even before they can believe in themselves. Watching Ebony flourish has kept us going through hard days, reminding us again and again why Connect Kids exists.

Her courage and transformation are at the heart of our mission, and her story is one we carry proudly with us into every home, every conversation, and every future we try to help build.
